Buying Wholesale HVAC Equipment

If you’re looking for a great deal on a new furnace or air conditioner, buying wholesale HVAC equipment is a great way to go. You’re likely to save hundreds of dollars buying wholesale online, but the cost benefits are not without their pitfalls. Read on to learn a few tips and tricks to buying wholesale HVAC equipment.

What System do you need?
Before you begin the search to find the ultimate wholesale HVAC system, you should find out exactly what type of system will best suit your needs. First you will need to have your home properly sized. You can actually kill two birds with one stone by calling around to several local qualified contractors and ask them to size your home and give you a proposal. Don’t trust a contractor who bids your HVAC system off of square footage – they should be using Manual J calculations. Ask each contractor if they only install equipment they sell you or if they will install equipment you provide.

Of each contractor ask them their reasoning behind the system they’re recommending. Is there a particular brand they prefer over other brands? If so, why? Learn as much as you can about the various HVAC systems from the installers – they’re experts and see tons of equipment day in and day out.

Shopping for Wholesale HVAC Equipment Deals

Once you’ve got an idea of which brand and model will fit your needs, it’s time to do some comparison shopping. Spend some time looking at online prices and be sure to factor in shipping costs. Stay organized and write down the prices you see at various merchants. You can use the information you find online in one of two ways:

· Purchase your HVAC wholesale equipment directly online and have a local installer do the installation for you.

· Use the prices you see online as leverage when you talk to local dealers. See how much they’ll come down in price to match the equipment prices you found. This can be the better way to go depending on the warranty.

What’s in the Warranty?

While you may be able to get an outstanding deal on wholesale HVAC equipment online, chances are you will void your warranty. There are several manufacturers – Goodman and Carrier just to name a few – who specifically call out that they will not honor the warranty on HVAC equipment purchased from an internet retailer. Goodman makes an exception only if the equipment is installed by the same internet merchant. Part of what you pay for in a new system is the warranty – so you’ll have to do some number crunching and decide if giving up the warranty is worth the savings you can get buying online.

Installation is Critical

Whether you buy your wholesale hvac systems online or from a local dealer, remember that the installation will make or break your new equipment. Don’t go with the lowest priced installation bid – instead, go with the more experienced and reliable installer. Even if it costs more up front, the skill put into your system will more than pay for itself over the its lifetime.
